A message from your Mayor, Cr Lara Carli.
The City of Melton is situated within the Victorian Volcanic Plains, a unique and precious ecosystem that’s home to a diverse range of threatened habitat, plants and animals.
Council truly values this local environment. We want it to thrive not just now, but for generations to come, and while Council is responsible for a number of activities that impact our City and its natural environment—including urban planning, managing reserves and resource consumption—the truth is that we can’t do everything on our own.
We rely on groups and individuals who generously volunteer their time and expertise to help care for the dozens of species of flora and fauna that call our City home. The work they do is crucial to preserving our unique biodiversity; saving water, reducing waste, conserving energy and combatting climate change, in ways that help us achieve the goals we have set for ourselves, and our City.
We are proud to support these groups and networks so that they can be more effective, sustainable and connected, and feel confident that the Community Leaders Academy will go a long way to achieving this.

The community sector has an extraordinarily high rate of burnout, in both our staff and volunteers. As a trained yoga teacher, a lifetime student of self development and a previous sufferer of burnout. This is the module I wished I'd had when I begun a life of activism, volunteerism and community leadership.

Hi there, I'm Kim.
Over the past 20 years, I have dedicated my career to the non profit sector. I've worked for the big guys like Greenpeace and World Vision as well as with countless small and medium community organisations from community houses to volunteer lead groups. A lifelong conservationist, I've been involved with Landcare for more than 10 years, holding many roles, including, a network Facilitator, group volunteer, network committee member, consultant and trainer.I've worked with non profits around the world, across more than 20 countries, I've trained 100s of leaders, recruited thousands of volunteers and raised millions of dollars for the causes i've put my time and energy into. After consulting with government and groups for the past several years, I've taken all this education and experience and packaged it up for the digital space and the result is, Community Leaders Academy.
I'm so incredibly excited to facilitate this community for you and to support you in your purpose driven journey.
