I'm for those who fight for a better forever

causes community sustainable activism

It wasn’t so much our climate election that all seemed to go wrong at the last minute,
Or that TV star President, overseas.
It wasn’t so much Adani or the rapidly increasing rate of homelessness, the continuation of old growth forest logging or even the alarming rate of women being killed by their husbands in their own homes.
It wasn’t the refugee crisis or the confronting lack of empathy for those ravaged by war.
It wasn’t the systematical shaving of funding for our schools and hospitals.
It wasn’t about parliamentary pensions or the complete lack of honour and respect for our indigenous people.
It wasn’t even the moment I discovered that our husbands had to give written permission for us to donate our eggs.
It wasn’t the people dying alone and lonely or even the alarming rates of bullying in our schools and youth suicide.
It wasn’t sex slavery, sweatshops and institutional child abuse.
It wasn’t transgender rights, same sex marriage, massive river system collapse, police brutality or corruption.
It wasn’t 1 million species driven to extinction by human kind or even a late night pondering whether human kind itself should, in fact be 1 million and one.

It was the moment, yet another activist slumped in her chair, wondering how she would find the strength to go on.
It was the broken voice and cascading tears of the campaigner who never cracks.          It was the Volunteer Manager, who looked tirelessly for people day in day out, only to have them leave, after the paperwork was completed.
It was the Program Manager who didn’t have time for lunch, again!
The ambitious charity worker who knew she was capable, but never seemed to get that promotion.
It was the fundraiser who dreaded going to work, feeling she could no longer stand the incessant rejection and failure to meet targets.
It was the community group committee who thought we are all doomed because the young people don’t care.
And the students who figured we are all doomed because the boomers plundered the earth and stock piled the houses along with their fat bank accounts.
And the willing volunteer, who just couldn’t find the thing to make their heart sing.
It was the street fundraiser who heard the word “NO” 500 times a day and gallantly rose, again and again, heart on sleeve, iPad in hand, knowing that yes was a mathematical certainty.
It was the friend who, for the first time in her life, felt the passion rising in her belly and started seeking, for ways she could contribute.
It was the associate who picked up the phone asking how she could best be of service.
It was the self made millionaire who was now ready to find her cause and contribute, in a big way.
It was the 6 year old boy who gave his pocket money savings to the cafe staff that just had their tip jar stolen.

There are so many causes and at times It can seem overwhelming.
The problems can seem so big, the solutions so far, the obstacles so incredibly large. Every day we have success’ that just never seem to linger as long or as heavy as the problems.
And every day, in every corner of this magnificent world, people, good people, can be found working, volunteering, donating and contributing in some way to some thing that strikes a chord within them.
Something worth fighting for.
Something worth putting their voice to.
I want to fight for them.
For their happiness, their efficiency, their sustainability, their growth, their achievement.
Their income, their reach and their impact!
So that they may shine bright, find flow, and rise to dizzying heights on the shoulders of a community that lifts them up and champions their success’.
So that they can stare burnout in the face and know that it's worth getting up again, know that there is a better way, know that they are worth it.

I support those who fight for a better forever.
I see you, come closer, you are not alone.
Here we all are, cheering you on to be your best.
You are the heroes that will shape the stories of tomorrow.
Even if you don't believe it yet.
Even if you can't see it yet.
We will see it for you.
