Your committee induction process can be fun and engaging. No one wants to sit through long, dry, boring governance training spanning hours.

The responsibility of ensuring clear communication of legalities and responsibilities to your committee members during the onboarding process can feel overwhelming.

Governance training has usually meant long, boring sessions delivered in legal jargon and is not easily understood by the average volunteer, creating a barrier to participation and indirectly putting the organisation and fellow committee members at risk.

What if you could make the induction process of new committee members easy, fun, quick, and engaging so your people can absorb and retain information and deliver their best to the organisation?

Committee induction procedures can sometimes feel a bit complicated and end up being delayed or put in the too hard basket. Passionate volunteers who stand for committees or boards  can be left to find their own way and oblivious to their legal responsibilities, they lack the clarity and boundaries needed to thrive in the role they have taken on.

Without an effective committee induction process;

1. Members become overwhelmed by information and jargon and unable to absorb all the requirements and responsibilities, putting your organisation at risk.

2. Members may become disengaged and inharmonious with other committee members.

Even if you see yourselves as an informal committee, a wine and cheese committee or feel like it is not a big deal and you don't want people to be scared off with responsibilities. The reality is that in putting their name to your organisation, as an elected committee or board member, they do take on legal responsibilities and it is your organisational responsibility to ensure that this information is communicated clearly, without overwhelming people.

That's why we've taken all the guesswork out of the committee induction process and created a simple way to get your executive on the same page.

VIDEO 5. LEGAL FRAMEWORK #2

As a committee it is important to clearly understand what kind of ship you are steering; You may be incorporated or unincorporated, If incorporated you will have chosen a legal structure. This video explores this in more detail

Committee Handbook

This handbook will guide you through the essential knowledge to be on a committee. It will assist your committee members to cohesively work as a team, to retain organisational knowledge, to engage in your roles in an active matter and to improve your collective skills and unity throughout the year.

It can be used for new committee members, engaging them from the start with an active induction process and to then help them to confidently find their voice on the committee so that they can participate and contribute value. Alternatively, you may choose to use it as an established committee to reinvigorate your meetings and bring everyone back together on a cohesive journey in order to optimise your income, reach and impact.

The book is broken into 3 sections:
  • Knowledge Bank: Fill-ins and planners to get you organised, capture essential information and help you to strengthen your group.
  • Committee Challenges: 10 minute challenges to work through as a committee that will progressively unite the group, assist you to work together cohesively and supercharge your effectiveness and efficiency. There are 12 challenges in total, one for each month of the year.
  • Quick Guides: These quick guides will give you the basic governance and engagement know how to achieve great things for your cause.

Two versions of the handbook available for download.
